Sobre Mesa

Our first project as Sequoia Gold was, pre-COVID 19, in early 2020 creating the bar program for Sobre Mesa in Oakland. The opportunity to collaborate with Chef Nelson German was a dream first project! To create the beverage program for his Afro-Latino cocktail bar we of course started with Chef’s heritage and culinary style. Our inspiration for the guest experience came from the concept of “sobre mesa” - the relaxed and joyful time around the table after the meal is over. Then came hiring and training a team. We worked to create a work environment that was fun, approachable, inclusive, warm, engaging, collaborative and neighborly.
